AI Visibility Audit Kit

The self-serve version of the audit I run for clients. Find out whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude recommend your brand when buyers ask, why they pick someone else when they don't, and what to fix first.

What you'll know when you're done

Whether the engines name you

Twelve buyer prompts on four engines, logged cell by cell, so you know your mention rate, how often you're named first, and whether what they say about you is true.

Where you drop off

A three-turn buyer conversation that shows whether you survive the narrowing question. In my AI Verdict Study, category leaders were turned down at that step about twice as often as challengers.

What to fix first

Eighteen criteria across SEO, AEO, and GEO, a scorecard that picks your weakest layer, and a 13-week plan with owners and re-test dates.

What's in the kit

  • The 31-page workbook. Fillable, and it scores itself in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Setup sheets, prompt logs, the three-turn narrowing test, all 18 criteria with how to check each one, rewrite and positioning exercises, and a one-page summary for your boss.
  • The Buyer Prompt Pack. A spreadsheet with 40 buyer prompts across 10 categories, a run log with room for 2,000 rows, and a scorecard that compares your baseline round with the latest one, by engine.
  • The roadmap spreadsheet. The 19 fixes that come out of most audits, a week-by-week schedule, and a weekly check-in sheet.
  • A worked example the whole way through. A made-up payroll company runs the audit alongside you, so you never have to guess what a good answer looks like.

A look at the pages

The titles and layout below are the real thing. The working text stays in the kit, because the criteria and scripts are what you're paying for.

What you'll have when you finish

Your baseline, with the counts behind it

Mention rate, how often you're listed first, how often you're recommended, whether what the engines say about you is correct, and narrowing survival. Each percentage shows the count it came from, so a 50% built on two answers can't pass for a trend.

Your pattern

The workbook sorts your results into one of five patterns and sends you to the pages that deal with it.

InvisibleKnown, then droppedNamed, but described wrongStrong on one engine, missing on othersAlways the alternative

A score for each layer

SEO, AEO, and GEO each get a score out of 30, and the scorecard tells you which one to fix first.

Your first three fixes, with owners

Picked from a sorted list of fixes, with at least one you can ship this week.

A 13-week plan and re-test dates

Built in the roadmap spreadsheet, with the same frozen prompts re-run at the end of weeks 4, 8, and 13 so you can compare rounds.

A one-page summary for leadership

Where you stand, who the engines pick instead and why, the next 13 weeks, and what you need from leadership, on a single page.

How it works

  1. Set up (day 1). Pin down your category, buyer, competitors, and the eight pages that matter most.
  2. Test the engines (days 2 to 4). Run twelve prompts and the three-turn script, then name your pattern.
  3. Audit the three layers (days 5 to 9). SEO, then AEO, then GEO, in that order, because a weak lower layer caps the ones above it.
  4. Score and plan (day 10). Sort the fixes, pick your first three, and put your re-tests on the calendar.

Budget about 9 to 10 hours over two weeks. The fixes come after that, on the 13-week plan. One person can run it; you'll want your web developer and whoever owns PR for a few questions.

Where the method comes from

21of 72

In my AI Verdict Study of 576 buyer conversations, the same scripted buyer got a yes on some runs and a no on others in 21 of 72 brand-and-engine pairings. Category leaders were also turned down at the narrowing step about twice as often as challengers. That's why the kit tests a three-turn conversation, and why it has you compare rounds of results before you believe a trend. Who it's for

A good fit

In-house marketing teams at B2B and B2C brands with a real product, real competitors, and someone who will do the work. Especially teams that have noticed AI assistants answering questions about their category without mentioning them.

Not the right fit

Pre-launch companies, which should start with a workshop. Teams that want someone else to run it and hand over a benchmark against named competitors; that's the AI Visibility Audit.

What the kit won't do: it won't run the engines for you, and it can't promise citations, rankings, or revenue. AI answers change from run to run, so your first round is a starting reading you'll compare against later.

Questions

What format is it, and what do I need to open it?

A ZIP file with the PDF workbook, two Excel spreadsheets, and a start-here note. Open the workbook in Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free, so the scoring fills in automatically. Browser PDF viewers show the fields but don't run the math.

How technical is it?

If you can edit your own web pages and log into Google Search Console, you can run it. A few checks on crawlers and structured data go faster with your web developer, and the workbook tells you when to bring them in.

How long does it take?

About 9 to 10 hours for the audit, spread over two weeks. Making the fixes comes after, on the 13-week plan, and how long that takes depends on what you find.

Do I need any paid tools?

No. Everything can be checked with a browser, Google Search Console, PageSpeed Insights, the Schema Markup Validator, and free accounts on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.

Which version will I get?

Version 2.0, updated September 2026. It covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude, and the crawler guidance was checked against each vendor's documentation that month.

Do I get updates?

Yes. Any update to the kit released within 12 months of your purchase is emailed to the address you bought with, at no charge.

What does a finished audit look like?

A worked example runs through the whole workbook: Northfold, a made-up payroll company, fills in every page next to you, so you can see what a good answer looks like before you write your own.

How is this different from the free Quick Check?

The Quick Check tells you which layer is weakest using 9 criteria and 3 prompts. The kit covers all 18 criteria, 12 prompts on four engines, the narrowing test where most brands drop out, the worksheets that fix what you find, and the plan.

Can I share it with my team?

Yes, with your own team at your company. The kit is licensed for one team's use, so please don't pass it to other companies or clients.

Can I get a refund?

It's a digital download, so all sales are final. If you decide you'd rather have me run the audit, book the AI Visibility Audit within 90 days of buying the kit and your $199 comes off the price. Not sure the kit fits? Start with the free Quick Check.

What if I'd rather have you run it?

That's the AI Visibility Audit: ten business days, $4,500 fixed. If you're not sure which you need, book a 15-minute fit call and I'll tell you.
